Operators were manually supplying part counts and run times for the calculation of OEE and

Operators were manually supplying part counts and run times for the calculation of OEE and were tracking downtime using spreadsheets. Implementation of MES eliminated the need for the operator to input the data and thus increased the accuracy of the OEE calculations. The downtime cause and duration were determined automatically from PLC tags and required operator input only if additional information was needed. Traceability improved as result of the PLC supplying data to the MES Track and Trace module.
